The Police & Crime Commissioner are looking to recruit to two maternity cover roles to join an innovative and ambitious team to support a wide range of commissioning and policy work. The Senior Commissioning and Policy Officer will focus on leading work on criminal justice, whilst the Commissioning and Policy Officer will focus on work related to serious violence.

An opportunity has arisen in the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner for two maternity cover posts to lead on, support and deliver a range of commissioning, policy and partnership work. The Senior Commissioning and Policy Officer role will focus on criminal justice, supporting the PCC in his role as chair of the local criminal justice board and facilitating a number of multi-agency groups in order to improve the experience of those who come into contact with the system. This role may also be required to also provide support to the PCC in his role as national lead for Economic and Cybercrime.

The focus of the Commissioning and Policy Officer will be on serious violence, in particular leading and supporting the work of the violence reduction units across Avon and Somerset. Both these roles involve building strong working relationships with senior colleagues to develop effective multi-agency solutions. As such previous experience of working in this way and delivering positive outcomes would be desirable.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, you ideally will have experience in commissioning, scrutiny work, developing initiatives, preparation of briefing documents and strategic partnership working. Confident, innovative and flexible, you will have excellent communication skills.

The OPCC has a strong focus on employing people that best fit with the ethos and culture of our team and are looking for someone that will embrace our values of Openness, Partnership, Compassion and Courage.
