Could you make a difference to help keep our roads safe?

Do you have good administrative and computer skills?

Community Speedwatch (CSW) enables members of the community to take action against speeding on the roads of concern within their local communities.

The speed of passing traffic is monitored and recorded on a database. Vehicle checks are then undertaken by Police Support Volunteers and letters sent to the registered keepers advising them of their speed and reminding them of the potential impact on the community.

Community Speedwatch is an educational scheme, not enforcement. It is considered as the first tier response to speeding issues. If a problem persists, it can be escalated to tier two, meaning that enforcement can be undertaken by the Neighbourhood policing teams.

Community Speedwatch plays a vital role in keeping our roads safe.

We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to engage in tackling road safety issues. The successful volunteer will be required to:

  • Record details on a computerised system
  • Check police systems for information
  • Assist in the coordination of the Community Speedwatch Programme

You will need a good knowledge of computer software applications e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and have an attention for detail.

This is a long term volunteering commitment within your local community.

As a volunteer you will make a real positive impact on your local community.

Applicants may choose their most suitable/desired location from the following areas:-

Frome, Shepton Mallet, Street, or Wells

Be your community
