We are looking for an individual to join us in our offices in Portishead to provide administrative support to our Road Safety Support Unit within the Criminal Justice Department to help bring offenders to justice.

Every individual that works for us, is in some way supporting and serving the community we represent, we simply could not do the jobs we do without them. Your office and administrative experience could be used to make a real difference throughout the force area.

In this role, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Maintain, create and update records on a variety of computerised databases and manual systems.
  • Quality assure the information held by the unit in order to ensure the accuracy and validity of the data held.
  • Search databases and retrieve data, to build files and records in accordance with police procedures.
  • Deal with internal and external customer enquiries over the phone, in writing or face to face in compliance with legislation and policy, e.g. Data Protection.
  • Write letters and correspondence in line with the requirements of the unit.
  • Perform general administrative duties including filing, scanning, photocopying etc.
  • Deal with all incoming post and distribute as appropriate, ensuring it is dealt with efficiently.
  • Produce basic statistics for the Team Manager.
  • Work with other departments to achieve the needs of the business providing clerical support across all areas of the Criminal Justice Unit.

Skills, experience and qualifications required:

  • Office/administrative experience e.g. filing, maintaining records, answering queries, operating system bring forward.
  • Computer literate - experience of inputting and retrieving data using a computerised database
  • Used to dealing with people both face to face and over the telephone.
  • Experience of working to guidelines and procedures.
  • It would be useful to hold a full current driving licence or be able to travel around the force area using alternative transport
