If so we are looking for a Personal Assistant (PA) to provide an efficient, confidential service to our Senior Leader in Avon and Somerset Police. You will have chance to be the difference in an award-winning corporate communications department.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, forward-thinking and creative environment while being a part of a supportive, friendly and caring team.

Our Corporate Communications department employs people with backgrounds in journalism, marketing, digital communications, graphic design and PR. They help find missing people, catch wanted criminals and seek to improve the way our officers and staff engage with the communities we serve.

Excited by the prospect of working in a communications environment, you will provide an efficient and confidential personal assistant/support service to the Head of Department by organising and prioritising many conflicting demands on their time.

In this role your main responsibilities will be:

-        Managing and prioritising Senior Leaders’ emails, ensuring urgent matters are brought to their attention and progressing matters on their behalf where appropriate.

-        Planning and organising meetings inclusive of attending to ensuring appropriate facilities, drafting minutes and actions and following up on their behalf.

-        Acting as first point of contact to the Senior Leadership Team/Directorate, answering telephone calls and queries, responding appropriately, taking messages and proactively referring as necessary.

-        Proactively co-ordinating with colleagues ensuring consistency of service and fulfilling Constabulary expectations.

-        Preparing communication/correspondence on behalf of the Principal and their Portfolio using appropriate methods and checks.

-        Additional ad-hoc requests as required to support the Principal in the efficient execution of their duties.

Essential experience required for this role:

-       Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

-         Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a wide range of internal and external parties.

-          Previous administration experience.

-          Experience of arranging and preparing for meetings

Additional information

Please note, this role is part time (29 hours per week) and working hours are to be agreed with successful candidate based on working 4 or 5 days per week between 0800 and 1800.
