Victim Witness and Care Officer (VWCO)

Well you could be a Victim and Witness Care Officer in Avon and Somerset Police.

In this role you will -

• Review police information to support decisions

• Make phone contact with victims of crime to offer support and help

• Make contact with organisations that protect children and adults who are at risk of harm.

• Support witnesses and assist them in understanding their role, in the Criminal Justice process

• Keep victims and witnesses informed as their case progresses

1. Ability to organise, prioritise and deal with multiple caseloads and data systems.

2. Ability to assess and make judgements related to safeguarding.

3. Be a confident communicator who can build rapport with a variety of people over the telephone.

4. Coordinate activity of a range of internal and external partners for the benefit of your caseload.

5. Not be afraid to have difficult conversations and challenge in a way that supports the most vulnerable in our community.

6. Innovate and solve problems to ensure victims get the support they need when they need it.

7. Ability to work as part of team.

(Develop and build relationships with external partners, Share experiences/ support other people in your team, not be afraid to ask for help)

To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 3 year 'checkable history' in the UK - ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years.
