An opportunity has arisen for someone to join our newly formed team, based within our Legal Department, who will form specialist links across the Police service both internally and externally, also with other Constabulary’s and partners.

 

The team ensures that the Constabulary meets it obligations under Data Protection legislation.

 

In this role you will be reviewing access to National systems to ensure compliance, providing reports to the Data Protection Officer and liaise where necessary with our Professional Standards Department.

 

In this role your main responsibilities will be:

 

  • Ensuring audits of the use of national systems are undertaken to maintain accreditation and demonstrate compliance.

 

  • Undertaking audits of the force systems to ensure compliance with the Acts relating to Data Protection, Computer Misuse and the Management of Police Information (MoPI) Code and Guidance.

 

  • Preparing audit reports documenting the findings and recommendations of the individual audits and report these to the Data Protection Officer.

 

  • Maintaining continuous monitoring of randomly selected entries of force systems to ascertain the reasons for reports and conduct checks to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Computer Misuse Act 1990.

 

 

Skills, experience and qualifications required:

 

  • You will need to have excellent computer skills in both Microsoft Office and bespoke packages, with experience of working in an accreditor or auditor role.

 

  • Experience of working in a law enforcement agency.

 

  • Researching, analysing and compiling reports is essential.

 

  • A working knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Data Protection Act 2018, the GDPR, the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988, Computer Misuse Act 1990 and the Management of Police Information (MoPI), Code and guidance.




To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 5 year 'checkable history' in the UK - ideally this means that you would have been a resident in the UK for the last 5 years.
