The South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU) is looking for Financial Investigators keen to progress their career as part of our Regional Economic Crime Team. We have 3 exciting opportunities to join our specialist teams.
As part of the Regional Economic Crime Unit you will be targeting the most serious criminals in the South West. You will use financial investigation tools in conjunction with other specialist law enforcement tactics to gather intelligence, bring criminal prosecutions and use all available options to disrupt and dismantle organised crime groups. As part of the RECU your skills will be used at all stages of investigations into a wide variety of crime types that are causing the most harm to our communities.
This role will include confiscation, enforcement work and Part 5 civil recovery (including crypto assets). It is an opportunity to ensure that criminals are deprived of their ill-gotten gains by securing Confiscation Orders, tracing and realising the declared and hidden assets of convicted offenders, and providing financial evidence in support of criminal investigations. You will also be able to develop as a Financial Investigator by being involved in the wider activity of the Regional Economic Crime Unit.
This is a progressive role and all applicants will be expected to become an accredited Financial Investigator.
SWROCU is a collaboration of police officers and police staff from the five South West regional forces. We’re part of a national network of nine ROCUs covering England and Wales.
We have more than 20 capabilities that staff and officers work in to Pursue offenders, Protect and Prepare individuals and organisations, and Prevent people from engaging in serious and organised crime.
Our capabilities are here to advise, to assist, or to fully adopt investigations.
We work with local forces and national partners to target and disrupt criminals posing the greatest risk of Serious and Organised Criminality (SOC). This includes offenders involved in cyber threats, economic crime, drug conspiracies, modern slavery and human trafficking, and child sexual abuse and exploitation.

Salary:
- A&S – S6, SO1 or SO2 depending on experience
Part time applications are welcome however, a minimum of 23 per hours per week required.

Vetting and safeguarding
To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a five-year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last five years.

Police Barred and Advisory lists
Individuals placed on the Police Barred and Advisory lists will not be considered for employment by the police for a minimum of five years from the date of listing in the case of gross misconduct, or three years from the date of listing in the case of poor performance.
