We understand how important psychological support is, and by working with the Force Medical Advisor (FMA) and our supportive team, you will be providing a proactive, comprehensive and confidential therapeutic, trauma and psychological support service.


Your role will include many aspects of psychological support and you will act as a recognised source of expertise within your own field of experience, providing advice and guidance to all levels of the organisation, providing innovative solutions and best practice.

By providing regular complex on-going psychological support for police staff and officers identified as working in high emotionally demanding and at times distressing, roles you will also make a clinical assessment as to whether therapy is required, and initiate it.


In this role, your main responsibilities will include: 


  • Provision of other psychological interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy in consultation with the FMA including post incident support and use of stress risk assessments.
  • The design and delivery of bespoke psycho-education and  training to support the psychological health of Police Officers and Police Staff.
  • Act as a champion for TRiM (Trauma Risk Management) within the organisation, liaising with the TRiM Coordinator and other TRiM trained staff as required in the management of staff wellbeing.
  • Supervision of return to work programmes in terms of offering practical solutions, advice and support on wellbeing matters to clients and their line managers where appropriate.

To be eligible to apply, you will need the following:


Qualifications


  • Advanced Course, Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in CBT or Counselling
  • You must have completed or commenced with a view to completion within twelve months the full four-part EMDR Europe Accredited training programme in the Theory and Practice of EMDR. 
  • Full BABCP/BACP/UKCP or equivalent accreditation or eligible to apply for and gain accreditation within six months.
  • You must be able to carry out CBT therapy must also hold, or be prepared to achieve, or have commenced within two years, a Diploma in CBT.
  • A full current driving licence or be able to travel around the force area using alternative transport will be necesssary.

Experience required includes


  • Ability to demonstrate evidence and maintenance of continuing professional development
  • Experience of preparing written correspondence and experience of writing reports
  • Experience of providing and delivering training
  • Experience ofproducing policies and best practice guidelines
  • Experience of working with complex mental health conditions
  • Experience of working within a large and complex organisation
