Could you make a difference and help shape the lives of the young people in your area?

This unique role is a great chance to help give back to your local community by supporting our Police Cadets.

Our Police Cadets have FUN whilst learning life skills such as communication and problem solving.  Our Cadet Leaders also inspire, lead and motivate the Police Cadets to support their local community.  Our Police Cadets are a diverse mix of 13-17 year olds, each with lots of enthusiasm and excitement for our organisation and its values.

With guidance from the Citizens in Policing Team and the Unit Sergeant, as a Unit Leader, you will make sure that sessions are planned and delivered to give our cadets a fantastic experience.  You will also be supported in this by a team of terrific volunteer Cadet Leaders.

We do not expect you to undertake all the tasks yourself, but you will be comfortable with delegating to the team of Cadet Leaders and checking that tasks have been completed.

We do not need you to have policing experience, our existing Cadet Leaders come from a wide range of backgrounds, and they each bring key elements of their day to day lives into the role.  This is an exciting opportunity for someone to use their personal qualities and skills within their community and learn, alongside our Police Cadets, how Avon & Somerset Police operates.

You will need to be comfortable presenting in front of a group of circa 30 cadets and being the person that engages and leads this group.

Our Cadet Leaders have a tangible and positive impact on the lives of our young people, our volunteers and our local communities.

We are currently recruiting for a Unit Leader for our Bristol unit, which meets during term time on Thursday evenings on Feeder Road, Bristol.    We occasionally have some activities which take place at weekends or during school holidays and we hope that our leaders can support some of these as well as the weekly sessions.

Avon & Somerset Police Cadets are part of a nationally recognised police uniformed youth group throughout England & Wales, please click here for more information Home | Volunteer Police Cadets (vpc.police.uk)

Be you

Be valued

Be the difference

We currently have 3 active cadet units (Bristol, South Glos and Weston Super Mare) with up to 30 cadets per units. We have 3-4 Leaders volunteering together at each weekly meeting. The Unit Leader attends most meetings. The cadet units meet during term time to gain an insight into policing, learn a range of skills and take part in community events. They also assist the police in delivering crime prevention advice and general public engagement initiatives to support the local community.
