Are you looking for a fresh challenge within an organisation that can provide you with the opportunity to utilise and broaden your experience within Finance?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive full-time Finance Assistant, to work in our Management Accounting team which is part of the wider Finance Department.

This is a busy and varied role where you will be supporting our finance officers in the preparation of budget information; ensuring accurate reporting of the financial position to our senior leaders.

We are a friendly and supportive team that work collaboratively to achieve deadlines in a timely manner. Finance is at the heart of the organisation, and we play a key part in helping to enable the delivery of outstanding policing for everyone.

 

In this role, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Ensuring that all work is delivered within agreed timescales and parameters in line with organisational procedures.
  • Quality assure data received, carry out research, challenge any changes where necessary and provide expert advice.
  • Maintain close working relationships with managers and colleagues across the organisation.
  • To assist in the provision of financial control, liaising with other colleagues as appropriate 

Skills, experience, and qualifications required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels and deliver a high quality and comprehensive customer focused service.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and work independently 
  • Good accuracy skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to learn and participate in ongoing training

We will also consider part time working requests, the minimum hours we would accept would be 22.2 hours (3 days a week).

To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 3 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years.

Blended Working/ Hybrid Working

Avon and Somerset Police encourage flexible working where operationally possible.
This role has been identified as a blended role.
The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager. All applicants must reside within the UK.
