Senior Criminal Intelligence Analyst – Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Major Crime Investigation Team as a Senior Criminal Intelligence Analyst.  We are seeking critical thinkers who can lead a team of analysts and researchers in an investigative capacity.

The Major Crime Investigation Team is a three force collaboration involving Avon and Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire police forces and as such you will be required to support homicide investigations across all three force areas. The role is a key part of a homicide investigation. You will be responsible for managing the Intelligence team ensuring that effective analysis and research is undertaken, understood and prioritised; driving forward the Intelligence requirements of a homicide investigation and overseeing the production of evidential products. There is a heavy emphasis on exploiting opportunities in relation to Digital and Communications data and experience in this area will be advantageous. 

The successful applicant will be able to offer advice to the investigation team in relation to appropriate analytical and intelligence practices to support a homicide investigation, and develop and manage individual analysts and researchers in order to develop the Intelligence team and wider analytical profession.

The post holder will support complex analytical research projects, identify best practice and develop the effectiveness of relevant software and information systems. They must also have good experience of criminal intelligence analysis. Whilst the role predominantly focuses on operational and evidential analysis there will also be the requirement to oversee strategic analysis in the support of Force and National approaches to Homicide reduction.

Previous leadership experience and experience of quantitative and qualitative analysis is essential.  A relevant degree or work based experience. Experience in the use of visual analysis software e.g. i2 Workstation and GIS is advantageous.

Please note appointments to this post are subject to a higher security clearance at SC & MV Level.  To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 5 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 5 years.

Avon and Somerset Police encourage flexible working where operationally possible.
This role has been identified as a blended role.
The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager. All applicants must reside within the UK.
