Are you a confident and competent driver looking for a new opportunity?

We are looking for reliable and pro-active individuals to join our organisation as an Executive Driver.

Our Executive Drivers provide a professional, efficient and safe driving service to a number of authorised personnel across both Avon and Somerset Police and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner including the Chief Constable and Police and Crime Commissioner.

Driving schedules will typically be agreed approximately one month in advance but due to the nature of the role you will need to be flexible and on occasions be able to provide driving services at short notice.

Main responsibilities in this role include:

  • Becoming an authorised Force Driver and carrying out the duties of driver/chauffeur to the Chief Constable, Police and Crime Commissioner and other authorised personnel across both organisations across the Force area and to locations anywhere in the country
  • Liaising with the Executive Assistant to the Chief Constable, the Personal Assistant to the PCC, as well as outside police forces and organisations to plan and anticipate future travel requirements incorporating picking up points
  • Undertaking regular valeting and vehicle inspections to ensure vehicles remain in serviceable condition at all times
  • Liaising with Fleet Workshops to arrange repairs and servicing as appropriate and in accordance with the service schedule
  • Carrying out routine support and administrative duties at the direction of the Chief Constable’s Executive Assistant and PCC’s Personal Assistant 

Skills, experience and qualifications required:

  • Hold a full manual UK driving licence
  • Confident to drive in all environments; night and day, rural, motorway and city (including central London) and driving in a variety of different makes/models of vehicle
  • Professional, reliable and discrete with experience of maintaining confidentiality to highly sensitive information and the ability to be flexible and identify solutions
  • Good communication skills, confident in working and conversing with senior officers and staff
  • Pro-active planning and organisational skills; re-routing journeys, navigation, parking
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications and smart phone
  • Previous professional driving experience would be advantageous

Additional information:

You will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends, including overnight and undertake additional driving training as appropriate to the role.

The rate of pay for your casual work is £10.08 per hour for actual hours worked (i.e. you will not be paid for lunch breaks and occupational sick leave). 

In addition, you will also receive unsociable hours payments which you will be entitled to claim but only as and when worked. This is at time and half for hours worked over the weekend and time and a third for all hours worked between 2000-0600.
