Are you an organised and motivated individual looking for a new challenge?

We have an opportunity for an individual to join our busy Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Futures Programme team as a Senior Project Officer.

In this role, you will be part of a small and supportive team managing and assisting projects including diarising appointments, updating project documentation, highlighting risks and issues and liaising with stakeholders.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues and customers encouraging a culture of continuous process improvement, overseeing accurate governance prioritisation and coordinating relevant information for the programme.

As the main point of contact, you will be making a difference to an exciting programme implementing integrated Finance, Human Resources (HR) and Rostering solutions to enable the organisation to deliver outstanding policing. 

In this role your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Owning, monitoring and aligning programme plans including partner and vendor plans and prioritising to the Programme Senior Leadership Team (SLT) as part of a weekly plan review cycle
  • Assisting the programme team with the management of programme activities to ensure a standardised and consistent approach, supporting the programme to meet the needs of the force
  • Maintaining and updating programme documentation (including version control) and activities, including proactive escalation of risks and issues to ensure accurate configuration management across the programme
  • Creating and distributing reports by working with the programme team and preparing forward plans of required project resources and resourcing requirements
  • Stakeholder identification, management and liaison as required by the programme
  • Acting as single point of contact to all internal and external Stakeholders for collating of data submissions and co-ordination of relevant information for the Programme, including overseeing accurate governance prioritisation to ensure key milestones are met
  • Working collaboratively with directorates, departments and colleagues, maximising transfer of appropriate skills, acting as a catalyst for change and encouraging a culture of continuous process improvement
  • Creating and distributing reports and dashboards working with the Programme Team and prepare forward plans of required project resources and resourcing requirements
  • Identifying, exploring and researching issues which may impact on service provision, highlighting opportunities and options for change, collating results and compiling reports as directed
  • Producing performance and management data to assist identifying risk and mitigation factors relating to the programme to drive decision making
  • Working within a designated team and across virtual teams as necessary

Skills and experience required: 

  • Experience of maintaining management information, monitoring the progress of projects and assisting in the preparation of reports
  • Experience of project/programme support including risk management, problem solving and change management
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to build relationships with colleagues both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload
  • Skilled computer user with knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes

To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 3 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years.

Blended Working/ Hybrid Working

Avon and Somerset Police encourage flexible working where operationally possible.
This role has been identified as a blended role.
The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager. All applicants must reside within the UK.
