Are you looking for a fresh challenge and a chance to broaden your experience within Finance where you can help enable the delivery of outstanding policing for everyone? If so, we currently have two opportunities to join our Management Accounting Team as Finance Officers. We are looking to fill one permanent post and one 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

Finance is at the heart of the organisation and accurate management information enables senior leaders to make the most of their financial resources. You will support finance colleagues and internal stakeholders providing information regarding all aspects of the pay and non-pay budgets. The Finance team are a friendly and supportive team who work collaboratively to achieve deadlines on time.

In this role, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Providing business partners with financial reports and analysis including budget monitoring, variance analysis and reconciliation of pay and establishment to budget.
  • Evaluate, develop, implement and maintain financial systems and ensure financial processes are efficient and effective by working with colleagues, clients and stakeholders to identify and implement solutions and best practice.
  • Researching and preparing budgets, reports and undertake projects as directed.
  • Provide training to non-financial stakeholders and help improve financial literacy within the organisation.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications required:

  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritise workloads and work independently
  • Detail focused with a concern for accuracy
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience of handling and analysing large volumes of data and the ability to produce and present management reports at a high standard.
  • You will hold or be working towards AAT / CCAB accounting qualification or be a fully qualified Accounting Technician (or equivalent) with accountancy experience in public finance.

Blended Working/ Hybrid Working

Avon and Somerset Police encourage flexible working where operationally possible.
This role has been identified as a blended role.
The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager. All applicants must reside within the UK.
