We are restructuring our Information Technology directorate and have a number of key roles available to help drive our force forward. We have 3 posts for the role of Support Officer.

As part of the wider IT Directorate, you will be providing business and specialist service to operational policing throughout Avon and Somerset Constabulary. 

You will be liaising with and working alongside multiple directorates, providing guidance and support to users of the force crime recording and intelligence systems.

The job description is still in Draft but in this role your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Undertaking various administrative duties in relation to digital policing systems.
  • Monitoring and resolving user issues and interface errors, providing advice and documenting solutions.
  • Providing a high level of customer service to internal users and partner agencies.
  • Monitoring and maintaining data that passes from digital policing systems to external agencies adhering to GDPR and the Data Protection Act (2018).
  • To interpret and document business requirements, raising system change requests in line with governance procedures.
  • Creating and providing supporting documentation for digital policing systems, including best practice recommendations.
  • Supporting and contributing to the overall vision of the force’s Digital strategy.
  • Ensuring the compliance of accurate record keeping, data quality, administration and documentation, ensuring the maintenance of records as required.

 Experience and Skills required:-

  • Experience of working with a variety of IT systems.
  • Experience of working in a service delivery/customer focused environment with evidence of good customer service skills.
  • Good administration and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience of working effectively within a team.
  • Experience of managing a high workload, being able to risk assess and prioritise.
  • Possess good problem solving skills, showing attention to detail.
