We have an exciting opportunity for a creative and enthusiastic individual to join Avon and Somerset Police as an Assistant Internal Communications Officer in what promises to be a busy and exciting few months ahead.

Working within an award winning communications team, each day will bring new challenges and decision-making. You will engage and reassure teams; making sure they have access to the best knowledge and tools by helping to deliver and develop our internal communication channels, maintaining intranet and website content and providing internal communications support.

This role will require you to be able to work in a fast-paced, forward-thinking and innovative environment, as part of a supportive, friendly and caring team.

In this role, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Maintaining and publishing digital content onto the Constabulary's intranet and website content management systems.
  • Monitoring internal channels and team mailbox ensuring the delivery of timely and appropriate responses.
  • Advising and guiding internal stakeholders on corporate style and identity.
  • Monitoring and evaluating items on the Constabulary's intranet to support the quality assurance of digital content.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across the organisation, briefing staff on current developments in order to maximise access to information across digital channels.
  • Engaging with and reassuring teams through the use of internal communication channels.
  • Supporting the research and collation of information for intranet content ensuring an accurate reflection of the Constabulary's perspective.

Skills, experience and qualifications required:

  • Skilled computer user with knowledge of HTML, web content formatting and image handling.
  • Advanced knowledge of, and experience using content management systems
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to communicate at all levels of an organisation both internally and externally
  • Excellent attention to detail and awareness of internal communication trends.
  • Holding a relevant degree, equivalent qualification or experience in a communications role would be advantageous.

To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 3 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years.
