Operation Bluestone DS transferee vacancies

At Avon and Somerset Police, we are revolutionising the way rape and serious sexual offences (RaSSO) are investigated and are now seeking enthused and passionate leaders who have an aspiration to join our existing team and in time become a part of our UK leading Operation Bluestone.

Our dedicated team of specialist investigators work collaboratively to decrease vulnerability led crime in relation to rape and sexual violence. Moving to a more robust approach to RASSO investigations, our aim is to not only increase the numbers of perpetrators brought to justice, but to significantly improve the experience, support and outcomes for victims, at a time when they are at their most vulnerable and in need of our help.

These roles are not for everyone. You and your team will be dealing with sensitive and unpleasant situations and as such will need to demonstrate professionalism and resilience at all times. You will need the drive, determination and leadership qualities to ensure your blended team of staff and officers make a difference, and ultimately change people’s lives for the better.

Initially, successful applicants may be posted into Core Investigations with a view to moving across to the dedicated Bluestone Team in the near future.

We are looking for Detective Sergeants who have completed the Investigative Supervisors Development Programme (ISDP) and are either already Specialist Sexual Assault Investigator Development Programme (SSAIDP) accredited or, alternatively, have experience of working in rape and sexual assault investigation and be willing to complete such accreditation. In time, our aspiration is for all DS’s working within this team to also hold SCAIDP accreditation so any previous completion of this qualification would be advantageous.

We offer an extensive range of support and career development opportunities including structured leadership programmes, mentoring, and specialist course provision, to name a few. With our support, the specialist and dedicated skills developed will enable you to make a real difference to so many.

Operation Bluestone roles are available at;

•           Bristol (Kenneth Steele House)

•           Emersons Green (Concorde House)

•           Bridgwater (Sandy Padgett House)

•           Yeovil Police Station

If you currently serve in a Home Office Police force and are looking to transfer to Avon and Somerset Police, we would like to hear from you. Help us make the difference!

In the event you do not wish to apply for DS Bluestone opportunities at this time, please note we are also currently recruiting for generic investigative DS roles. Please contact our TAS Team/review our jobs page for further details.
