Are you looking for a challenging yet highly rewarding role? Do you want to make a difference in your community with road safety? 

We have an opportunity for an Enforcement Officer to join our Speed Enforcement Unit.

This role is for someone who is keen to keep the highways safe and make a difference within the local community. You will attend events and schools to educate and raise awareness of road safety matters.

Working mainly on your own you will be travelling to your assigned area, enforcing the speed limit as well as operating a speed camera from within a van or roadside and detecting other offences, such as not wearing a seat belt and using a mobile phone whilst driving reducing fatalities and serious injury.

You will need to be prepared to work on regular days of the week and weekends consisting of the following shifts: 7am - 5pm, 10am - 8pm, and 12pm - 10pm.

In this role, your main responsibilities will be

  • Operating detection and ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) equipment such as cameras to enforce the speed limit, and reduce other driving offences being committed
  • Monitoring and testing new camera technology and ensuring equipment is serviceable
  • Identifying new areas for the use of detection equipment as requested by our communities
  • Assist in road safety initiatives, attend various community events and shows engaging with the community and to raise awareness
  • Attending court to provide evidence

 Skills, experience and qualifications required:

  • Hold a full and current driving licence.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office.
  • Must have excellent communications skills.
  • The ability to prioritise workload.
  • Experience of working under minimal supervision.

To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 3 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years.
