We are looking for someone who shares our values of Learning, Inclusive, Courageous and Caring to take on an exciting opportunity leading our new Workforce Planning function for Avon and Somerset Police.

The Head of Workforce Planning and Resources will lead our newly created Workforce Planning function to deliver workforce planning strategy across our organisation. Great workforce planning is a key enabler for us to deliver Avon and Somerset’s vision of outstanding policing to the communities we serve. This is a challenging resourcing environment, and the Head of Workforce Planning and Resources will work to understand and project our future requirements as well as map resources to where we need them. You will identify and resolve key workforce planning challenges.

You’ll be used to working in a complex and fast paced environment with experience of problem solving. You will be responsible for setting up, leading and shaping the development of the Workforce Planning and Resources teams.

As an outstanding influencer, you will work closely with key stakeholders ensuring a collegiate approach and supporting the team to deliver outstanding workforce planning. You will develop and deliver strategic workforce plans, advising and influencing senior stakeholders within HR and across the business.

This role reports into the Director of People and Organisational Development and will be responsible for standardising workforce planning, processes, measurement and KPIs to deliver the service across the organisation.

In this role, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Leading, shaping, representing, and communicating the workforce plans to match the level of the organisation ambition and ensuring our resources are aligned with workloads, demand, and financial planning.
  • Co-ordinating key stakeholder collaborative working to ensure workforce planning is clearly understood and supported throughout the organisation meeting critical business requirements across all areas
  • Addressing critical resourcing priorities through the data analysis, forecasting and problem solving for key areas
  • Providing day-to-day leadership to drive the delivery of outstanding workforce planning
  • Becoming a strategic subject matter expert on Workforce Plans and Resources, to develop insight to enhance Constabulary services.

 

Skills, experience and qualifications required:

  • Significant experience of supporting the business ideally in a similar size, complex organisation.
  • Evidence of operating and influencing stakeholders at a senior level within an organisation
  • A demonstrable track record of successful people management and accountability for effective performance management.
  • Experience of implementing successful development, change and innovation.
  • Knowledge of relevant legal, political, economic, social, technological, and environmental factors and an understanding of the implications for the department and key areas of responsibility
  • Knowledge of relevant local, regional and national priorities, strategies and initiatives and their implications for the department and key areas of responsibility
  • Strong leadership skills to support in the day-to-day operations of the business.

Blended Working/ Hybrid Working

The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises.
