Do you want to be part of a team improving the lives of children and young people suffering abuse and neglect in their home?

We have an opportunity for a Case Conference Officer to join our Victims and Safeguarding department at Avon and Somerset Police.

In this role, you will be working closely with partner agencies and families to risk assess and put plans in place to safeguard the most vulnerable children in our communities.

You will be attending case conferences with members of the public to protect vulnerable people from harm whilst undertaking honest, respectful conversations with families and remaining calm when presented with challenging behaviour.

In this role, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Responding to all invitations to safeguarding children and vulnerable person case conferences and carry out specified checks when required
  • Attending conferences to share information and express views regarding safeguarding children and vulnerable person plans to protect vulnerable people from harm
  • Participating in the decision-making process and agreement of protection plans and documenting the justification for all decisions
  • Compiling police reports in relation to safeguarding and ensuring databases and filing systems are updated

Skills, experience and qualifications required:

  • Experience of working with multi-agency partners within a safeguarding environment including knowledge of safeguarding legislation
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to build working relationships both verbally and in writing
  • Skilled computer user with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages with the ability to maintain records on databases and experience of producing concise written reports
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills with the ability to make decisions and remain calm when dealing with challenging behaviour
  • Please be aware you will be required to travel around the Force area to attend case conferences.

Blended Working/ Hybrid Working

Avon and Somerset Police encourage flexible working where operationally possible.
This role has been identified as a blended role.
The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager. All applicants must reside within the UK.
