Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Portfolio Management Officer in the IT department. As a Portfolio Management Officer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating various IT projects, ensuring their successful completion within scope, schedule, and budget.

You will have a pivotal role in the service request process and oversee the Resource Management System to schedule daily project activities effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with colleagues within the IT directorate to proactively identify inter-dependencies, risks, issues, milestones, delays, and generating necessary mitigation plans and reports.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables
  • Develop and maintain portfolio plans, schedules, and budgets
  • Coordinate and communicate with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are achieved
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and addressing potential risks and issues
  • Provide leadership and support to project team members
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture
  • Ensure adherence to project management best practices and methodologies

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in IT project management
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies
  • Experience in creating and managing project processes using Microsoft365 products
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software

Blended Working/ Hybrid Working

Avon and Somerset Police encourage flexible working where operationally possible.
This role has been identified as a blended role.
The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager. All applicants must reside within the UK.
