Avon and Somerset Police are creating a new team who will be responsible for supporting people in our communities who have been affected by anti-social behaviour (ASB) and crime. 

In this volunteering role you will be supporting Avon and Somerset Police in our mission to Serve, Protect and Respect.  

This role will involve helping to manage the expectations of victims ensuring that they feel fully supported and informed.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Contacting those who have been affected by anti-social behaviour and crime related incidents.
  • Offering continued support via our partner agencies.
  • Assisting Neighbourhood Policing Teams

Additional information:

Location – On-site at Bridgwater Police Centre, Express Park

Hours – Fully flexible.  Whatever time you can offer, you can flex your hours to fit volunteering around work or other commitments.

As a Police Support Volunteer, Avon and Somerset Police will reimburse you for out-of-pocket expenses that you incur while volunteering for us.

Eligibility for Safer recruitment roles

You must be 18 years of age to apply
All applicants will be subject to the Force Vetting Policy and will be required to undertake and maintain the appropriate level of safeguarding training for the role.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary is fully committed to the safeguarding and promotion of welfare of children and young people.  The role you have applied for requires you to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) every three years.

This role requires that at least one of your references is able to comment on your interactions with children and/or young people in a personal, voluntary or employment capacity.  Please ensure that you consider this when completing your application.
Our electronic system asks you to provide 3 years of employment history, please disregard this.  As part of our Safer Recruitment procedures, you must provide details of ALL employment/education/voluntary roles you have ever held and details about any gaps when you were not working/studying.  The system will allow you to add as many roles as you need to.

Please note that this role requires a medical assessment prior to appointment with the force's Occupational Health Unit.

Individuals placed on the Police Barred and Advisory lists will not be considered for a volunteering role by the police for a minimum of 5 years from the date of listing in the case of gross misconduct, or 3 years from the date of listing in the case of poor performance.
