The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) are looking to recruit a Community Engagement and Stakeholder Manager.

Are you highly motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic and organised?

Do you have strong experience in community engagement and developing and managing relationships with stakeholders?

Are you passionate about empowering people on issues affecting their communities – particularly those who are under-represented or vulnerable?

If so, the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for Avon and Somerset want to hear from you.

The OPCC are hiring a Community Engagement and Stakeholder Manager to oversee the Police and Crime Commissioner’s (PCC) programme of engagement with people living in our area.

A key role for the PCC is to be the voice of local people in policing and scrutinise and hold the police to account for their service to communities.

This new role in our organisation will help to improve the strategic management and mapping of our stakeholder engagement at the OPCC.

As well as community engagement, you will support engagement with OPCC partner agency and stakeholder engagement.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a hard-working, skilled and inclusive team to support the PCC, Mark Shelford, to lead improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of policing, victim support and criminal justice services on behalf of local people.

You will work closely with the Head of Communications and Engagement to ensure the PCC’s engagement programme supports the OPCC business objectives and works seamlessly with communications.

You will work within a small team with responsibility for all areas of internal and external engagement including researching and horizon scanning for weekly community engagement days, police engagement days, and delivery of a new stakeholder mapping and management system.

You will need to have a ‘can-do’ attitude, be hands-on, able to work highly effectively in a small team and multi-task. To thrive in this role, you will be a proactive team-player, with outstanding organisation and communication skills.

This is a challenging and rewarding role which requires experience of engagement, commitment and, ideally, knowledge of policing, criminal justice or local government sectors and/or of working with senior elected officials.

The closing dates for applications is 12 noon on 15 February 2023.

Selection days will be held week commencing 27 February 2023.

Start dates will have some flexibility. However, we would like to have this position covered as soon as possible.

The OPCC have a hybrid working approach which incorporates blended office and home working.

The OPCC has a strong focus on employing people that best fit with the ethos and culture of our team and are looking for someone that will embrace our values of Openness, Partnership, Compassion and Courage.
