Are you an experienced Occupational Health Advisor and manager looking to work in a new area of expertise, then this could be the opportunity for you?

A new opportunity has arisen to become the nurse manager of the Occupational Health (OH) team within Avon and Somerset Police. This is an exciting time to join OH which is undergoing growth over the next two years and focusing on the psychological and mental health aspects of OH delivery.

Working closely alongside the Force Medical Advisor, you will be responsible for the management and supervision of the Occupational Health Advisors and the Psychological Therapy teams. This role is part of the senior leadership team alongside the FMA and the office manager. You will provide advice and guidance to colleagues on OH matters both within the department and to the wider organisation.

Police Occupational Health is a rewarding and challenging area and as a manager you will have a network of support from senior OHA’s within other Police Forces, the Force Medical Advisor, as well as internal HR, Health and Safety as well as Senior Leadership teams.

The role is based within the Occupational Health department in Portishead, outside of Bristol however there are options for some blended, and home based working as part of the role.

Salary

We're offering a salary equivalent to that of NHS band 8a (< 5 years' experience £48,526 - 5+ years £54,619). The starting salary we offer will be dependent on experience and qualifications

Main Responsibilities will include:

- Effective management and leadership of the occupational health clinical team

- Developing systems, policies and processes ensuring that clinical guidelines and best practice for occupational health, safety and rehabilitation within occupational health are taken into account.

- Leading on the implementation of appropriate quality standards and clinical governance/audit (such as SEQOHS and the national Oscar Kilo standards).

Skills and experience required:

- Be a first level registered nurse with a degree level qualification in Occupational Health or above, or a SCPHN qualification (Specialist Community Public Health Nurse)

- Experience of working as an Occupational Health Nurse at Grade 7, and  providing occupational health nursing services in the public or healthcare sector

- Experience/awareness of and observe strict confidentiality in dealing with patients/clients. with an awareness of the issues around data protection in relation to GDPR

Blended Working/ Hybrid Working

Avon and Somerset Police encourage flexible working where operationally possible.
This role has been identified as a blended role.
The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager. All applicants must reside within the UK.
