We have an exciting permanent opportunity for an Information and Disclosure Officer to join our team within Legal and Compliance Services.

Information and Disclosure Officers undertake research and make decisions in response to requests for statutory or court ordered disclosure of information and the retention, deletion of data in line with local and national policies.

In this key role, you will work within a team to ensure that information is managed effectively on behalf of Avon and Somerset.

In this role, your main responsibilities will be:

  • To research, retrieve, collate and redact relevant data from a range of different police systems.
  • Making decisions regarding the retention, deletion and/or disclosure of data in line with court orders.
  • Provide professional advice and guidance to both internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Ensure effective management of an efficient service to meet the business demand.
  • Provide and analyse data in line with organisational governance for compliance reports.

Skills, experience and qualifications required:

  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation including the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Ability to make decisions and work to deadlines.
  • Ability to gather and organise and present information in a logical manner.
  • Good IT skills including experience of using Microsoft office, Adobe Pro and Adobe software.

This role will be dedicated to one of the teams within Legal and Compliance Services Directorate: Family Court Disclosure, Records Management, Freedom of Information or Data Protection.  However, there may be a requirement to work in another team in order to provide resilience and meet fluctuating demands.  Relevant training and support will be provided to meet this requirement.

This role is blended so you will be working mainly from home but full initial training will be provided.  You will be required to attend the office for meetings and there will be a need to meet with colleagues from other departments, Constabularies and agencies when required.

Blended Working/ Hybrid Working

Avon and Somerset Police encourage flexible working where operationally possible.
This role has been identified as a blended role.
The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager. All applicants must reside within the UK.
