Counter-Terrorism Policing South West (CTPSW) is a collaboration of police forces across the south west, a specialist team focusing on the development of intelligence to counter any terrorist threat.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our regional control desk who are responsible for managing the known and unknown threats posed by individuals and groups seeking to travel across our borders in the pursuit of terrorism and serious organised crime.

Working with a large tactical team including police officers and regional support staff, you will assist in deploying appropriate resources to mitigate threat to UK interests at home and abroad. 

Main responsibilities:

  • Gather quality intelligence in relation to terrorism, extremism and serious and organised crime
  • Disseminate intelligence to partner agencies to enable further investigation
  • Direct involvement in the daily coordination and deployment of regional Counter Terrorism (CT) Border Policing resources
  • Preparing tasking sheets for each port across the region detailing pre-planned tasking and alerts expected
  • Carry out research to support front line police officers by performing background checks using multiple databases
  • Proactive point of contact for partner agencies, CT network and colleagues, responding to telephone and e-mail contact with the control desk

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience within a similar intelligence environment is preferred but not required, all training will be provided
  • Basic understanding of the 4 pillars of the CONTEST strategy would be beneficial
  • Relevant experience in engagement and partnership working
  • Self motivated with good, effective communication skills and confidence working with people at all levels
  • Experience of researching and analysing information from a variety of sources
  • Ability to work well under pressure and changeable deadlines
  • Strong user of all MS office packages
