We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, confident and pro-active training professional to join our Learning and Development as and IT Trainer.

Our IT Trainers utilise their skills to design and deliver training programmes to provide our police officers and supporting staff with high quality learning in the functionality of our internal police systems to enable them to be successful in their roles.

You will be assisting in the continued development of this training programme and be responsible for creating supporting materials and training documentation. You will evaluate the effectiveness of our training programmes and be instrumental in ensuring that our teams are trained in an efficient and effective way. 

Working with a wide range of people at various levels, you will assess the achievement level of knowledge, skills and competencies attained by employees and external customers, taking personal pride and ownership for successful delivery.

In this role, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Designing, creating, delivering and developing training courses and all associated materials to force employees and external customers
  • Assisting with the testing of relevant software including enhancements and system developments
  • Identifying faults and report these issues to system owner/external suppliers
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of training programmes and training sessions     

 

Skills, experience and qualifications required:

  • Hold a training qualification or award at Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AEAT) or able to demonstrate relevant training experience and be prepared to work towards a qualification at this level
  • Experience of designing, delivering and developing a wide range of training courses to a range of audiences
  • Skilled computer user with experience of using presentation, databases and Microsoft Windows applications.
  • Experience of measuring results, giving meaningful constructive feedback and producing action plans
  • Experience of testing or using new software and systems

To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 3 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years.

Blended Working/ Hybrid Working

Avon and Somerset Police encourage flexible working where operationally possible.
This role has been identified as a blended role.
The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager. All applicants must reside within the UK.
