Avon and Somerset Police has gained a reputation as a pioneering and innovative force. We take a courageous and learning approach to innovation which is at the heart of what we do. We’re always searching for new ways to help our people perform at their best, whether that is through the latest tech, pioneering different approaches or training and personal development.

One of our key values is inclusivity, we value the difference in perspective our people bring, and we work together with our colleagues to ensure they reach their potential. We see individuality as a strength and we’re looking for someone with the courage to be themselves, do the right thing on a difficult day and empower our people to do the same.

Importantly, you will have a strong commitment to and the highest respect for diversity amongst your colleagues and the communities you serve. We are the first police force to achieve the full National Equality Standard (NES), one of the UK’s most rigorous and prestigious accreditations for equality, diversity and inclusion and our ambition is to be the nation’s most inclusive police force.

You will develop and implement effective strategies and policies, and take command of policing and operational matters as and when required, including as a member of the Gold Command rota.
