Introduction

We are keen to promote Police Constables from diverse backgrounds to the rank of Sergeant to deliver our service to the public, to lead our people and to meet the challenges we face.

Please note that applicants will be measured against the Competency Values Framework during the assessment process, but are not required to give competency based answers or evidence on their application form.

The Process

  • To apply for this vacancy, applicants should submit a completed Application form via the Oleeo E-Recruitment system
  • Applicants must request their Line Manager complete the Police Promotion Line Manager Assessment form on Pocketbook (pdf for external candidates)
  • Completed applications should be submitted by 4th October 2020 at Noon. Late applications will not be accepted.
  • The Workforce Planning team will collate applications with the respective Line Manager Assessment form
  • Directorate Leads (DLT) will assess the applications for their Directorate/ Dept. and either support the candidate’s progression or not support them, evidencing the reason for this decision
  • Confirmation if you have been supported or not supported by your DLT will be sent out on the 21st October 2020 at Noon and you can self-select your assessment date and time following this notification.
  • Assessment Interviews will be held between 3rd-19th November 2020
  • Results of interviews will be published on 25th November 2020 at Noon
  • Deadline for appeals is 2nd December 2020
  • Results of appeals will go out 8th December 2020

In all cases the Chief Constable reserves the right to appoint an individual to any police officer post taking into account welfare issues, succession planning, redeployments and development needs.

Successful applicants working flexible or part-time hours may have to re-negotiate their flexible working agreement with their new Manager in accordance with Police Regulations and Force Policy.

Every effort should also be made to reduce TOIL accrued in excess of 50 hours before commencing new role.
