We are seeking experienced Superintendents for various roles throughout the force area.

If you currently serve in a Home Office Constabulary, and are looking to transfer to Avon and Somerset Constabulary we would like to hear from you.

Am I eligible?

I am transferring from a Home Office Police Constabulary
        I am a substantive Superintendent/Detective Superintendent

Our mission is to “Serve, Protect, Respect”, and as a Superintendent you will share our vision of delivering “outstanding policing for everyone”.

As a Superintendent, you should role model our values based culture and promote an environment of continuous improvement.

Superintendents play a critical lead role in operational policing for major or critical events or incidents; planning and directing the activities in line with the legal framework and wider policing policies/objectives to uphold the law and ensure public safety and strengthen public confidence.

You will have experience of leading a large and/or complex area of command within forces and across collaborations and carrying responsibility for all activities in their area.

We police a diverse community and want to be representative and inclusive of the 1.65 million people we serve, across a geographically varied and multi-cultural area.  At the forefront of technology, we’re going through a time of rapid change, but with the support of our workforce, partner agencies and community, we are transforming the organisation for the future.

We see individuality as a strength and we’re looking for someone with the courage to be themselves, do the right thing on a difficult day and empower our people to do the same.

Importantly, you will have a strong commitment to and the highest respect for diversity amongst your colleagues and the communities you serve. We are the first police force to achieve the full National Equality Standard (NES), one of the UK’s most rigorous and prestigious accreditations for equality, diversity and inclusion and our ambition is to be the nation’s most inclusive police force.
